SASHA ( 29/11/96 ) black and gold bitch, hipscore

BANSHEE BEAUTY

She is our old girl and has been a loyal pet, spending so much of her time with our spaniels, she thinks she's a gun dog.  She has been an absolute pleasure to own and, for her age, she is in great condition.

This very special girl is no longer with us, we had to call it a day on Tuesday 31st July. She had 10 very good years but due to kidney failure she could not go on any longer. We had to make that heartbreaking decision for her and not ourselves. She will stay in our thoughts, she was our very first GSD and always remembered fondly.   1996-2007. R.I.P.

ICE ( 15/06/2004 ) white dog, hipscore 5/3

KENS WHITE BEAR AT RAINWALKER

We purchased Ice from good friends of ours, Audrey and Ken Richardson.  He is a gentle giant and at two and a half, already weighs in at 47kg. He’s not the best colour for a farm and is always filthy. A proven stud, he has sired four litters of strong healthy pups up to now.  He carries the black and white gene and we are hoping that he also carries the blue.

MIDNIGHT ( 08/10/2004 ) black bitch, hipscore 6/6

POT BLACK ROCHELLE AT RAINWALKER.

A beautiful solid black bitch, she was bred in Scotland, near St Andrew's, by a lovely lady called Mrs McGibbon.  She has become a dear friend and a dictionary of information about the German Shepherd breed. Midnight’s dad is a solid blue dog bred by Mr and Mrs Winter of Ferryhill (she’s my “telephone friend”... eh Lynn?). Midnight is a well made sturdy bitch, very sociable and a lovely member of our family.

AMAZON (02/10/2004) blue bitch, hipscore 3/4

SMOKEY BLUE ROKA AT RAINWALKER

With the same father as Midnight, bred by Lynn Winter, she has our lowest hipscore so far!  She is a quiet girl, a day just strolls by with Amazon, very peaceful and relaxed, a lovely gentle bitch.

URSHA ( 15/02/2004 ) white bitch, hipscore 5/6

BLISSFUL BREEZE AT RAINWALKER

Ursha is definitely a mammies girl, she is a cheeky girl with a mischievous character. She is two gone February and is still a pup at heart.  She loves to be out playing with the pups whether they belong to her or not.  She will play for hours, and is an ideal puppy sitter.

EBONY ( 24/06/2003 ) black bitch

EBONY

We purchased Ebony after going to see a stud dog in Scotland, I think she chose us really. She was a year old then and I was a bit worried about introducing her to our pack. She was no bother and our other dogs are so obliging, they accepted her straight away.  Happy days.

ODEN ( 22/09/2006 ) solid black dog

RAINWALKER ODEN

He is Ice and Midnight’s pup and at ten weeks already weighs 7.2kg.  I think he's going to take after his dad. He is a quiet pup with a funny character, hopefully he will prove to be an able stud dog and gentle giant like Ice.

Oden has turned out even better than we ever expected he is fab. He is of kind temperament, a lovely gentle example of the breed. He weighs 30 kilos now and he is 7 months, he is definitely going to be a young Ice without the backchat!

TRUE ( 03/01/2007 ) solid blue bitch

True belongs to John's daughter Lindsay, she was bred by our friend Cathy McGibbon and is full litter sister to Kenya. She is a quiet little bitch, a very different nature to Kenya.

KENYA ( 03/01/2007 ) colour - guess?

Kenya was a solid blue when we went to collect her but in the last few weeks has changed colour dramatically, we think she is changing to a sable. Watch this space for an update of her final coat colour. Kenya is a confident outgoing girl but very obedient with it, she is very sturdily built just as Midnight was as a pup.

BuiltWithNOF

Whilst all efforts are made to ensure our pups are healthy, the new owner must ensure that the same discipline, diet and exercise pattern are applied for the healthy growth and structure of this large breed.  All of these factors contribute towards a well developed adult dog. A ten minute walk 3-4 times a day is sufficient for a large breed of dog, especially a German Shepherd.  This is usually a surprise to most new owners!  Assuming large dog, lots of exercise, you couldn't be further from the truth. We never let our young pups jump, climb or descend heavily on their soft growing bones ESPECIALLY the hind legs.  It is wise to get you dog/bitch BVA hipscored on or after a year old if you are going to breed from him/her.  Although it is doesn't always guarantee a low hipscore there are lots of technical contributing factors - visit our links page on hipscoring for a better insight.
